Hands-on Cadaveric Workshop on Multiple Organ Harvesting Techniques

Brain-death and organ donation in India has been slow to pick up. However, with the availability of Non-transplant organ retrieval centres (NTORCs) it is hoped that multi-organ retrievals are likely to be done at a larger number of hospitals. Multi-organ retrieval is still not a part of the surgical training at most centres. Hence there is a need for surgeons to learn the methodology of organ retrieval. There is pressing need to learn the safe organ retrieval by

IASGCON 2019 will be conducting a ‘Hands-on Cadaveric Workshop on Multiple Organ Harvesting Techniques’ with a focus on safe organ retrieval.

Workshop: Doing Surgical Research: The methods & the statistics

The aim of this workshop will be to re-introduce some biostatistical methods to the participants. The workshop will cover various aspects of conducting research like research question and hypothesis, study designs and statistical analysis. The participants will learn about different types of data that are gathered in clinical studies, interpretation of differences in data distribution and the level of significance. They will also learn how to choose appropriate statistical tests, understand different types of studies, and interpret odds ratio, relative risks and survival data. There will be hands-on sessions during which the participants would perform statistical analysis on provided data.
